CATARINA VALENÇA GONÇALVES

PhD in Contemporary Art History by the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2008); she has a Diplôme des Hautes Études (3rd cycle) in Tourism by the Institut de Recherche en Études Supérieures Touristiques of the University of Paris 1 - Panthéon Sorbonne (2006); she has a Master’s in Art, Heritage and Restoration from the Faculdade de Letras of the Universidade de Lisboa (2001) and a degree in History, focusing on Art History by the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (1998). She has a Post-Grad in Culture and Cultural Heritage Law from the Law School of the Universidade de Lisboa (2010). The was a researcher for the Institute of Art History of the School for Human and Social Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2010-2013)  and  was a guest lecturer at the Post-Grad in Heritage and Cultural Projects at the ISCTE, Lisbon, in 2010/2011. She will present her post-doc paper on Art History at the FCSH / UNL in June 2018. During her academic training she won the National Prize for Young Historians and Anthropologists of the Foundation of Youth, Oporto; she had a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and another from the Foundation for Science and Technology. She has published 4 books on Art History and has authored several articles and papers on these topics. She began her career at GECoRPA – Group of Conservation and Restoration Companies of Architectural Heritage in Lisbon (1999-2001). She did research for the Directorate‐General of Buildings and National Monuments and did a Thematic Inventory on Mural Painting in Bragança and Vila Real (2001‐2002). She Coordinated the Centre for the Promotion of Heritage from Alentejo at the Alentejo – Terra Mãe Foundation in Évora (2005‐2006). In 1998 she created the “Rota do Fresco” project of heritage revitalization, and coordinated it until 2008, for the Association of Municipalities of Central Alentejo (Cuba). In 2007 she founded Spira – revitalização patrimonial Lda. where she is the Director-General. In the area of heritage management she has coordinated institutional partnerships. She was in the Board of SEDES – Association for Social and Economic Development between 2012 and 2016. She is in the Board of APECATE – Portuguese Association of Companies of Tourism Animation and Events (2016‐2019). She was a co‐founder of Association Portugal Heritage, and is its chairperson in the three‐year‐period (2016-2019).
